Christchurch Educated

Let us help you find the best living environment to fit your needs and budget.

Christchurch is a compact, modern city with a wide range of living options for international students.

You can be part of a local family in ‘homestay’ accommodation where you’ll learn how to live like a kiwi, or you may prefer to stay in a more independent student environment.

Here is a summary of the most popular options:

Homestay:

This is a great way to start your Christchurch Educated experience. A homestay provides a warm, family environment and connects you straight into our local lifestyle. You will have your own room, meals with the family and the opportunity to practice your english every day. All institutions carefully select and supervise their host families.

Student Hostels:

Some institutions offer hostel accommodation with other students, both international and local. Please talk with your institutions about the options they offer.

Flatting (private rental accommodation):

This is the common living arrangement for young people in New Zealand. Often a group of friends will rent a house or apartment and share the costs. When they have a spare room they will look for flatmates to join them. Finding a flat is best done after arriving in Christchurch, and you should plan to have at least two weeks in other accommodation when you first arrive.

Backpackers, youth hostels, motels and hotels:

Christchurch offers a range of these options to suit your needs.
